Checkers: Relaxing on the couch

CHECKERS (adopted sister)

Checkers: Born August 1997. Black and White DMH. Adopted after PAL was killed.

  • Fav Cat Food: Crunchy;
  • Fav Human Food: Chicken;
  • Tricks: Puts strings, rubber bands and crunchy food in water bowl, then swirls it.
  • Fav nap spots: Cat bed in master bedroom / Couchtop / Dining chair 2 and 3

Checkers. She is a small female black and white DMH. Does not really like it outside, unless its nighttime. She is a bit shy, but playful. She likes to play "follow the rope". Talks to us all the time. Loves to chase flying bugs, like butterflies and like to hide in the front bushes.

She has a habit of dragging her food bowl over to the stairs, and pushing the pieces out of the bowl and down. The she goes after them... eats them... and starts all over again. Pretty cute... but a bit messy sometimes.

Checkers was killed by a car* on August 22nd 1998 at approx. 11:30 PM est. The driver never stopped. She is now listed at Rainbow Bridge along with Pal, who died on August 24th, 1997. I wanted to again thank everyone for the support you have shown with respect to the loss of Checkers. We surely wish that people would pay more attenton when driving in residential areas, as all animals everywhere suffer enough risks as it is.

* We assume a motor vehicle played a role in the death of Checkers, as her death occured in the roadways edge. We had no witnesses to this fact, as we did with Pal. If we find that fowl play, or some other cause for her injuries were purposely, or otherwise inflicted, we will post an update, and take whatever actions are deemed nessessary and legal. Crimes against the innocent should not and will not be tolerated.

I want to thank everyone who supported us when we lost our little pal here. I cannot tell you how much it meant to us. You really know who your friends are when things like this occur. I would also like to thank the pet loss newsgroup, Rainbow Bridge, and all the cyber friends I met during the healing process. I don't know what i would have done without all that support.
